Women’s Club Volleyball

As a freshman there are many opportunities to join a variety of clubs and organizations. I played volleyball all through out my life and for a while it was my life. I decided not to play at the college level, but I was still looking for something to fulfill what was missing because I still have the passion for the sport. A couple of weeks ago Lewis started a Women’s Club Volleyball team, and I decided to join. I thought of the team as a good opportunity to get my hands back on a volleyball, meet new people, and of course stay in shape. As of right now we have about 30 girls which will eventually turn into two teams, a competitive team and a recreational team. We will also be working along side of the Men’s Club Volleyball team which started last year. The season does not start until January, but we have already started preparing for the season with open houses. We will also be trying to start to put together more matches on campus because most of our tournaments are out of state. They are out of state because our conference is the Midwest.

Club volleyball is for both competitive people and non competitive because of the range of experience on the team. Some of the girls have played all their lives like me and some haven’t touched a volleyball since middle school. I am very excited to see how the season plays out. I hope everything goes really smoothly, we have fun, and hopefully win a couple of matches!
