Is it summer yet???

Monday, April 30th, 2012

Well summer is close, but not close enough! I have 6 essays due in the next couple of days and then studying for finals. I will be desperate for summer in a couple days. To add onto that, I have been busy like no other. Last night, I was out with the lady friend. Tonight, I went to a ballroom dancing lesson at Lewis (we’ll talk about that later). Tomorrow night I am going to an an army dinner event at Cantigny, and Saturday I am going downtown to celebrate my friend’s birthday. Needless to say I haven’t been home lately.

Going back to the Ballroom dancing, it was my first time ever doing it, and I really liked it. I went to get credit for a Philosophy class, as well as I always wanted to learn how to do it. It was a lot of fun actually and the complex-looking moves weren’t actually that difficult. I am thinking of taking lessons outside of Lewis, but we’ll see what the summer brings.

Anyway, I have some essays to write to til next time!

Time is Fleeting By!

Thursday, April 26th, 2012

Hello everyone!
I hope you’re all doing great! This school year is almost over and it’s crazy how fast it went by. I have 15 crazy days of school left before I get to enjoy my summer break! Ahhhhhh! So excited!
If you’re looking for something fun to go to, Harmonic Uprising will be performing having their 4th annual Big Spring Sing Thing! The concert will be held on April 25th, 2012 in the Sancta Alberta Chapel at Lewis University. We will also be saying “goodbye” to some of our amazing senior members. Come and enjoy some great a cappella music featuring music from artists such as Gavin DeGraw, Michael Jackson and many more. Another plus, it’s free admission!
I hope you’re all keeping busy this week and of course studying! It never hurts to start early! Get ready for the hectic rush and good luck on exams!
Talk to you all later!

Wait… Summer is almost here?

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

The semester is really starting to wind down, and let me tell you it’s been one crazy ride. The countdown has really begun for our students; from our freshmen eagerly awaiting the title of “Sophomore” to the seniors getting ready to walk across the stage to receive their diplomas, summer fever truly is in the air on campus. The only problem? With summer lurking around the corner, the motivation is starting to really drop!
I know that I’m SWAMPED with things to do for the next two weeks, from a 7 page research paper for Philosophy to 2 essays for Ethics to 2 BIG tests in Biochemistry and Physics… Not to mention the scary fact that finals are so close as well! It’s becoming extremely difficult to stay on task, knowing that classes are so close to being over! But one thing that every student (including our prospective students!) should know: slacking off now won’t make your grades better…. it probably will make them worse!
I’ve found that setting a to-do list and planning out my days has really helped me to stay motivated and keep me through the tedious work I have to get done. It’s so rewarding to be able to cross YET ANOTHER thing off my list once I’ve completed it! :) Also, procrastinating a large paper won’t help anything. I’ve learned that writing a page or two every night until the deadline really helps to breakdown the paper and make it less stressful to write. Not only can you guarantee that your writing makes sense (and isn’t filled with the late-night groggy typing we’ve all done before!), but it makes the paper feel shorter than it is :)
But even if some of these tips can’t help you to stay focus, I recommend taking a quick break, get some food, hang out with some friends, watch TV, or even go for a jog around campus. Lowering your stress levels will help you to re-structure your focus on the tasks at hand, and get you through the weeks :)
Well, I’m off to start studying for my Biochemistry test that’s tomorrow, until next time! :)

Easter break and such

Monday, April 16th, 2012

Well I hope you all had a good Easter break. I had a pretty good one, I got to SLEEP!!! I also got to see some friends from high school which is always good. As far as Lewis life is concerned, things are going very well. I just registered for classes and I am quite excited for next semester. I am only going to have class on Tuesdays, Thursdays and flying on Saturday mornings. It’s going to be early, starting to fly at 7, but oh well I’ll sleep when I’m dead (and on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays). I want to get a job at an airport and work on those days I have off.

Classes are going very well this semester and they are almost over!!! 3 weeks left + 2 days of finals! I CAN’T WAIT FOR SUMMER!!!

Anyway, I have some scholarships to fill out, so til next time!

Few more weeks…

Monday, April 2nd, 2012

Well break is long gone, but Easter Break is fast approaching. It isn’t a long break, Thursday through Monday, but I still can’t wait for it. I just want to SLEEP!!! Classes are going very well this semester, but I still can’t wait until this semester is over. The part of summer I love is when I wake up and know that I don’t have any plans for that day (classes, homework, tests, work, etc.).

Life at Lewis has been coming alive! With the great weather, people are out playing football, frisbee and soccer like crazy. I love walking around campus in shorts and a hoodie. Flying has been great this semester too. Great flying weather and I am moving through instrument flying kind of quickly and it is so nice to move quickly with flying.
