If you do not meet the above criteria please choose one of the below methods of requesting your IRS Tax Transcript.
Note: beginning with the 2012-13 FAFSA, FEDERAL 1040 TAX RETURNS CAN NOT BE ACCEPTED. You must submit a Tax Transcript.
Tax filers may request a tax transcript of their 2012 federal taxes directly from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Tax transcripts are free and can be requested one of three different ways:
Please note: Online and telephone IRS Tax Return Transcripts requests cannot be sent to a third party by the IRS and will take 5-10 days to process.
To request a tax transcript online, please visit www.IRS.gov and select “Order a Tax Return or Account Transcript” located under the “Tools” section.
Select the “Order a Transcript” link located under the (3) Go get your transcript column. When prompted, please enter the following information for the tax filer:
For “Type of Transcript” select: RETURN TRANSCRIPT.
For “Tax Year” select: 2012 for the 2013-14 FAFSA.
A confirmation page should generate telling you they have received your request for a tax transcript and it should be received within 5-10 days to the address entered in their request.
To request a tax transcript by telephone, please call the IRS at: 1-800-908-9946.
At the prompt enter the following tax filer information:
Social Security Number, press “1” to confirm number.
Street number from address, (for example: 301 oak street, you would just enter 301).
Select 2012 for the tax year.
Print the IRS 4506T-EZ form (located to the right)
Complete the form and mail or fax to the corresponding address or fax number listed on page 2 of the form.
Please note: where you mail or fax this request form will depend on the state in which you lived and filed your taxes for the year you are requesting.
Tax filers will receive their tax transcript within 5 to 10 days from the time the IRS receives and processes their signed request.
