Next Steps

  • Visit the Campus
    One of the best ways to become familiar with Lewis University is to visit the beautiful campus.

    • Campus Visit Days: Experience everything that Lewis University has to offer and tour the campus with your peers. During Campus Visit Day, you will learn about the admission process and financial aid, as well as have the opportunity to meet with faculty to learn more about your major. Sessions are held several times per semester. Students reserve their spot by calling the Office of Admission at (815) 836-5250 or by registering online on the Campus Visit Day webpage.

    • Individual Visits: Students and parents who want more of a one-on-one visitation can meet with one of Lewis University’s admission counselors to learn more about academic programs, student life, and the admission process. Tours are available Monday through Friday at 9am, 11am, and 2pm. Students and parents may schedule an individual visit by calling the Office of Admission at (815) 836-5250 or by registering online at the Individual Visits web page.

  • Apply for Financial Aid
    If you wish to receive Federal Student Aid, please complete a FAFSA online at Our school code is 001707. Please contact the Financial Aid Office directly at (815) 836-5263 or via email at Additionally, certain academic programs have scholarships available for which you may be eligible.
  • Access Your Financial Aid Award
    Use the myLewis portal for review of all financial aid documents and awards. In order to receive your Federal loan and/or Federal work study you must accept those awards in your myLewis portal. NOTE: You should have received a letter from the Office of Admission with your username and password.

    • Type into your browser.
    • Enter Username and Password to view Financial Aid Awards
      • Username – On letter sent from the Office of Admission
      • Password – L-8 digits from Lewis ID listed on the login instructions from the Office of Admission.
    • Select Financial Aid Status
    • Review All Tabs
    • General Information – Review messages from the Office of Financial Aid Services
    • Select Award for Aid Year – Click on each tab to review your Financial Aid Status
    • Award Overview – Summary of Financial Aid Award Letter
    • Terms and Conditions – Read through the terms and conditions and at the bottom of the page check the box that you have read the terms and conditions in order to continue to accept the award offer.
    • Accept Award Offer – Accept, partial accept, or decline the Federal Direct Loan and Federal work study if awarded. NOTE: If you want to change your federal loan amount, you will only be able to reduce the amount offered.
  • Declare Your Intent to Enroll

    To ensure your place in the incoming freshman class, declare your intent to enroll. 

    • Login to the myLewis portal, click on the Admitted Student tab and click on the payment link to submit your $100 tuition deposit. The tuition deposit is fully refundable until May 1.
  • Secure Your Spot in Campus Housing
    If you plan to live on campus, go to the myLewis portal and submit the online housing application with an additional deposit of $100. Housing assignments are issued on a “first come, first served” basis. The housing deposit is fully refundable until May 1.
  • Attend a SOAR Program Session
    The Student Orientation Advising and Registration (SOAR) program will get you started with your academic career at Lewis University. At the SOAR program session, you will:

    • Become acquainted with the campus
    • Learn about various student support services
    • Receive academic advising
    • Register for classes
Participation in SOAR is mandatory for all incoming freshman students. You can view a list of available dates and register for a session by visiting the SOAR First Year Students web page.

  • Send Your Final High School Transcript
    Lewis University is excited to have you as a new student, but high school graduation and grades still need to be verified once you enroll.

    • Make arrangements to have your official final high school transcript (which includes graduation date) mailed once your final grades are posted, to the following address:

    • Students will be prevented from registering for future terms until the final transcript is received.
    • If a decline in grades occurs after acceptance, Lewis University reserves the right to rescind the admission offer.
To avoid having registration blocked and being charged a $50 late fee, students must submit records before the following deadlines:

  • Summer and Fall classes: before the first week of October
  • Spring classes: before the first week of March
You are strongly encouraged to submit your immunization and medical records prior to starting classes – the sooner the better. More details about immunization requirements can be found on the Immunization Requirements. Students and parents can contact the Health Center with any other questions at (815) 836-5047, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

  • Prepare for Class
