For most, religion is personal; faith and values form a foundation to their daily lives. Yet religion is also public. Religious faith has shaped and transformed millennia of history, culture, literature and the arts. Religion continues to make an expansive impact on our culture today; it's part of our lives in both a personal and public way.
As a major in Lewis University's Theology program, you can explore your own personal faith and values, while examining religion's role in society. You can choose from three programs of study:
You will learn to critically assess faith, religion and ethics through an academic perspective. You will learn how traditional Christian teachings can be meaningful today. You will examine the religious dimension of the human condition, and investigate historical and contemporary expressions of religion. And, you will explore theological questions: biblical, historical, systematic and moral.
As a Catholic and Lasallian university, Lewis University is defined by our historic tradition and inspired by religious faith. The Department of Theology is an essential part of academics at Lewis. This vibrant department offers students a progressive, relevant understanding of Christian and Roman Catholic theology.
