KELLI BETTENHAUSEN
Graduate - MA Organizational Leadership
Why did you choose Lewis University for your graduate studies?
I was searching for a graduate program and not quite sure which area
to go into. I opened a packet I received from the Chamber of Commerce
and there was a flyer providing information on the Organizational Leadership
Program at Lewis University. I was very interested and met with the
admissions department at Lewis. I heard positive things from others
about Lewis. The rest is history.
How has your degree helped you professionally?
Actually the process of obtaining the degree helped me as much as having
the degree. I am a project director for a federal grant. This position
entails knowledge of leadership, systems, cultures, change, critical
thinking, strategic planning and finances. The classes I took at
Lewis consisted of such topics and enhanced my knowledge. I was provided
the resources to be a better project director.
What did you like most about the program that you chose at
Lewis University?
The content and relationship building. I often wondered while I was
in meetings at work, why I felt out of place. My mind would develop
strategies, I would ask a lot of questions and often ended up in leadership
roles. While in this program, I was not an outsider but within my element.
The other students in the program tended to think like me.
Would you recommend Lewis University to others?
Absolutely, I enjoyed my experience. I am very glad that I chose Lewis.

Why did you ultimately choose Lewis University for your degree
program?
I ultimately chose Lewis University out of three different
schools I was looking into because of the academic reputation, referrals
I got from previous students of Lewis along with the university being
known as one of America's Best Colleges listed on U.S. News & World
Report. Lewis also has different campus locations to help those students
who need a diversity of class locations.
How are you hoping that your degree program will help you
professionally?
I am hoping that it will not only open more opportunity doors for me, but will
enlighten me with new inspiration and ideas I never would've imagined.
What do you/did you like most about the program you chose
at Lewis University?
I've recently seen a larger need for someone with this type of background.
I no longer have to worry about not being able to actually better myself after
I receive my degree due to the lack of need in the workforce.
Would you recommend Lewis University to other potential students?
I would definitely recommend Lewis University to other students. Especially
those who are going back to school to continue their education like I did.
It can be quite the scary experience if someone is not there to help you
along the way and to explain that you will not be the only one going back.
To let you know it's ok.s.

about the program that you chose at Lewis University?
The Capstone
surfaced skills accumulated throughout the
program wrapped around a topic of your choice. There is no question
the Capstone is challenging, however when faced with deadlines

a person
can accomplish.
Would you recommend Lewis University to others?

HILDA GONZALEZ
Graduate - MA Organizational Leadership Graduate
Why did you choose
Lewis University for your graduate studies?
I have always been fascinated with the diverse leadership styles
that exist in our world and its many facets and intricacies. So,
after reviewing the curriculum and class descriptions I felt
the classes were
exactly the learning experience I was seeking. Specifically, I
was in search of a program that offered courses in the history
of leadership
and emotional intelligence.
How has your degree helped you professionally?
First of all, it has allowed me to better understand myself as a
person, both professionally and personally. By better understanding
myself, I have come to understand the differences that exist in people
and the motivational options required to lead effectively. Ultimately,
this has made me a better person.
What did you like most about the program that you chose at Lewis
University?
I enjoyed the teachers first of all - which included their spirit,
energy, commitment and dedication to their students. They are all professionals
in their respective fields who provide students with tried and true
examples and approaches. I also enjoyed the classes as they included
real-world concepts to utilize in real-world situations.

in emotional intelligence leadership required for creating a working
climate that can nurture employees to give their best.

Why did you ultimately choose Lewis University for your degree
program?
I chose Lewis University because I had previously taken an Adult Accelerated
course with another institution and found myself wanting more in terms of value.
I didn't feel that the education that I was receiving or the degree that I
would have received, would enable me to pursuit my future plans.
How are you hoping that your degree program will help you professionally?
I know for certain that my degree program has given me a professional edge,
as I continue to learn and explore various aspects of my degree, I can then
in turn use that information in the workplace. I feel more confident in the
decisions that I make, the way that I manage and interact with employee's
and colleagues, and how a continual learning process allows me to be flexible
in ways others who have stopped their learning process are now facing as
challenges.
What do you/did you like most about the program you chose at
Lewis University?
If I had to choose one aspect of the Adult Program that I most enjoyed, it
would have to be the fact that the course and the material used in the course
are the same material that is used in the non-accelerated classes. Because
the courses are accelerated it means that there is no time to fool around--it
is truly up to the individual to get as much or as little out of the program
as they want to. For me, I find this to be the type of environment that unlocks
my creative side, and gives me the permission to learn until I want to stop
learning.
Would you recommend Lewis University to other potential students?
For anyone who is in a similar situation as I where they didn't choose to go
directly to college after high school, and perhaps are at a point in their
career where the degree is keeping them from advancement or exploring fields
of interest, I would highly recommend the program at Lewis. It's unlike many
of the other Adult Programs, as it will teach you to learn and the material
is truly at a college level so that you can feel your hard earned dollars
are going to something worth while and worth the investment in time and money.
Assuming you have done what is asked within the course modules, you will
leave each class with a sense of accomplishment as you take not only one
step closer to a degree, but a step towards a perpetual learning environment
where age and ability will never be an excuse from reaching a higher level
of understanding and awareness.

Why did you choose Lewis
University for your graduate studies?
Lewis University was an accredited university, close to home with
a quaint, welcoming campus. The Organizational Leadership program
was
geared towards working adults with accommodating schedules, a timely
and applicable curriculum and a superb faculty. Returning to school
can be an intimidating process but from the start, with a personal
interview with an academic advisor, I felt at home at Lewis.
How
has your degree helped you professionally?
I continue to utilize the critical thinking skills and leadership
knowledge I gained from my education at Lewis on a daily basis
in all of my decision
making processes.
Although I was not looking for new employment, in the past year I was offered and accepted a new Director’s position in my field. Thanks to my education, I look forward to many more future successes as well.

Absolutely! For those who keep putting it off, as I did for nearly
ten years, Lewis University is the perfect match for students of

The
thing I liked most about Lewis was it's convenient locations. I

when none were available at work and home.

I
would definitely recommend Lewis University. Especially to working
