Welcome
to the School for Professional and Continuing Education. We thank
you for visiting our website and we invite you to explore the
many learning opportunities for adult at Lewis University.
In collaboration with the four Colleges at Lewis (Arts & Sciences,
Business, Education, and Nursing and Health Professions), there
are a wide range of options available for working adults who
want to complete a bachelor’s degree, earn special certification,
and/or expand their professional skills for a career change
or opportunity for advancement. For enhanced access and convenience,
we have accelerated face-to-face, blended, and online instruction
as well as a variety of locations such as the five regional
campuses, employer sites for cohorts, and the main campus in
Romeoville.
Lewis University is committed to providing our adult students
with a well-rounded education that is practical and relevant,
which will also serve them well for life. We need leaders in
all professions who are the type of people that care about
others and their communities.
Full and part-time faculty who teach adults at Lewis use a
variety of teaching methods and the small class sizes allow
students and faculty to develop positive working relationships.
Dedicated staff members serve students in area such as academic
advising, orientation, financial aid counseling, tutoring,
and career planning. In fact, many of Lewis’ faculty
and staff have also been adult college students at some point
in time. No matter what type of course, location, or delivery
method, adult students have found Lewis University to be a
friendly and supportive environment for personal and professional
growth.
Like many of today’s adult students, I personally know
what a difference it makes to attend a small university that
is learner-centered and focused on its educational mission.
I also feel it is crucial to ask our current and prospective
students how we can best serve their needs. Please contact
me with your ideas and I welcome your feedback at gallisgl@lewisu.edu or by calling (815) 836-5570.
