Computer Configuration:

Best results will be achieved with a Pentium class computer with a minimum of 64MB of RAM or a comparable Macintosh computer. You must have access to an ISP [Internet Service Provider] that allows you to utilize the Internet. The computer and Internet service should be readily available allowing you to keep up with coursework and interaction with your fellow students.

Be sure your Internet browser is upgraded to the most recent version available. Minimum requirements are Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape versions 4.0 or above. To download the latest version of the software, go to the homepage of the browser and follow carefully the instructions for downloading. This is not a difficult operation. It is important, however, to do exactly what is specified. NOTE: Although Netscape does work, the best results will be achieved with Microsoft Explorer.

For Internet Explorer go to http://microsoft.com/downloads/search.asp? and find the most recent version of Internet Explorer for your computer and follow the instructions for downloading.

For Netscape go to http://home.netscape.com. The current location of the download can be found under Channels and following the link for Computing & Internet > Free Software. [These pages change often.]

An important note: most of the University uses the Microsoft Office suite [Word, Excel, Powerpoint] and you can expect that file exchanges are likely to be in that format. If you do not own or have access to the Microsoft Office suite, you may wish to contact the Lewis University bookstore for guidance on acquiring these products at student pricing. The bookstore can be reached at (815) 836-5401 or campus extension 5401.
