Admission Requirements
To qualify for admission to the MSN program, you must meet several requirements.
- You must be currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in your state.
- You must have completed a baccalaureate nursing program that is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Your curriculum should have included:
- A three-semester credit hour course in statistics
- A three-semester credit hour course in nursing research
- A three-semester credit hour course in pharmacology
- A three-semester credit hour course in health assessment
- Courses in anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, chemistry, and microbiology
- You must have an undergraduate cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on your undergraduate degree.
- You must submit a current résumé or curriculum vitae, and official transcripts from all previous academic programs.
- You must submit two completed Lewis University College of Nursing and Health Professions' recommendation forms; one reference must be from a nurse with a master's degree or doctoral degree in the specialty track for which you are applying; the second should be from your current supervisor or manager.
- You must submit one essay (1000 word maximum) discussing the skills and qualities that you bring to the role of Nurse Practitioner, along with the most important things you need to learn to be a successful Nurse Practitioner.
If you haven't taken these courses, you must complete equivalent courses before enrolling in your first graduate level nursing course.
