International Business

With the effects of instant communication and market globalization, the global marketplace has become increasingly important for American companies. In recent years, U.S. exports have accounted for about a quarter of  our economic growth. As companies continue to expand into this market, they seek employees with skills in international business, marketing and accounting.

The program offers a combination of business, finance and accounting, all from an international standpoint. You will gain solid business skills and a global perspective, preparing you for a successful career in international business. 

You can choose between two academic tracks:

  • The concentration in International Business will introduce you to how business is practiced across the world. You will develop understanding of other cultures and learn cross-cultural business practices, communication and etiquette. You will learn how to identify opportunities in foreign markets and manage enterprises across national borders. You also will explore the influence that international and local politics have on business strategy.


  • The concentration in International Accounting will introduce you to accounting concepts from other countries. You will learn about financial reporting and standard setting, along with how to analyze international financial statements. You will look at how specific countries conduct financial reporting.

No matter which concentration you choose, you will develop broad international business knowledge, cross-cultural communication skills and technology savvy.  Additionally, you will learn through a combination of lectures, seminars, research, case studies and travel abroad. Upon graduation, you will be prepared for an exciting and rewarding career in international business.
