College of Education

English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement
with M.Ed. option

PROGRAM INFORMATION
Each year, public and private schools in Illinois enroll more students whose first language is not English. To meet the instructional needs of these students and provide assistance to schools where these students attend, the College of Education at Lewis University has created a specialized post-baccalaureate program for teaching English Language Learners, P-12.

The English as a Second Language program offers the required coursework to prepare teachers and school administrators to provide the specialized instruction necessary to help English Language Learners become proficient in English and provide them with strategies to maximize their learning in all curricular areas.

ADMISSION
All candidates must meet the requirements for enrollment in an Educational Leadership program and hold a current Illinois regular teaching certificate. Please consult the Lewis University Web site for additional details.
