Secondary EducationFrequently Asked QuestionsWhat campus do you offer the MA Secondary Education program? What grades will I be able to teach when I complete your program? What areas do you certify in? Do you require the GRE? The Illinois Basic Skills Test must be taken and passed before you can begin any “methods” classes. You may however complete content area classes before the BST. Please keep in mind that the BST is not offered every month and that it takes approximately one month for your score report to be returned. You can learn more about the Illinois Basic Skills Test at www.icts.nesinc.com. The Graduate Writing Exam is offered through the Lewis University College of Education. The Secondary Education departmental secretary can assist you with the next test date. You can complete the Graduate Writing Exam during your first semester at Lewis University.
