Master of Arts in School Counseling & GuidanceCohort ProgramThe Department of Psychology also offers a two-year cohort program in School Counseling and Guidance at the Lewis University Campus in Tinley Park and at De LA Sall Institute in Chicago. The cohort program follows the present School Counseling and Guidance curriculum and is available to students who hold a valid teaching certificate, and to non-certified students who meet normal admission requirements. (Non-certified students are required to take 2 additional education classes to become eligible to take the State exam.) Upon completion of the cohort program, students will be able to take the State exam for the Type 73 Guidance Certificate. The cohort program is designed so that a group of students will proceed through the entire program together. The cohort program meets one evening/week. Students will take two classes that evening: the first class meets from 4 - 6:40 p.m. and the second from 6:45 - 9:25 p.m. The program includes two summer school sessions with a slightly different class meeting schedule. Cohort programs begin each year in August at the Tinley Park Campus, and in January in Chicago at De La Salle Institue. The cohort program is limited to approximately 20 students. Qualified applicants are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Interested students should contact Dr. Thomas Bristow, Program Coordinator at (815) 836-5522 for further information.
