ESL Program Applications
Admission
to the ESL Program is open to all international students who have
already completed their secondary school education. Interested
ESL applicants should submit the following:
- A
completed Lewis University International Student Application.
- A
U.S. $40.00 application fee.
- A
financial statement from your bank, or from your sponsoring
agency if another organization is paying for your studies, indicating
that a minimum of $ U.S. 21,000 is available. Upon request,
we will provide you with forms for the bank to fill out. Also
upon request, we will provide you with a form called an affidavit
of support to be filled out by your sponsor or by you (if you
are paying for your own education) and returned to us.
- An
official, signed and sealed high school or secondary school
transcript, which should be evaluated by World Education Services
before being sent to Lewis.
Special
Note: All official documents and application fee must be sent
to Lewis University by express mail. Only the Lewis University
International Student Application may be faxed, but we do not
recommend it. The fax number is (815) 836-5002.
Campus Housing
Lewis
University has eight residence halls. Living accommodations are
available for all ESL students. All residence halls are staffed
by Residence Hall Directors and Resident Assistants, who are trained
to ensure the safety and rights of Lewis students, as well as
to sponsor activities.
Admission
requirement to degree programs
For
entry to the Lewis University undergraduate programs, international
students whose first language is not English must include a TOEFL
score of 500 or higher, or successful completion of the Lewis
University ESL Program (see Lewis University Undergraduate Catalog
for other specific program requirements). Admission requirements
to the Lewis University graduate programs require a TOEFL score
of 550 or higher (see Lewis University Graduate Catalog for other
specific graduate program requirements).
