Activity

Choose one of the following:

  • A legend is an unverified story handed down through generations, especially one that is believed to contain some historical facts. Write a brief summary of a legend you have heard.

  • Lady Ilena has embarked on a long journey. What do you think her group does to pass the time? What do you do to keep yourself amused on long trips?

  • Create your own legend. Have two classmates read your legend and when they are done, ask them questions about their interpretation of what it means; what is the moral or themeof the story. Then tell them the moral or theme that you intended.

  • In The Legend of Lady Ilena, the Saxon army is also known as the “painted ones.” If you had a special tribe, design a costume, pennant, special face painting, or hairstyle that you would be known for.
