COURSE: 54-584 Student Teaching in Special Education P-12 (5)
This course is a sixteen (16) week supervised internship in special education settings, including eight (8) weeks in elementary and eight (8) weeks in secondary settings. This experience includes observation, planning and supervised student teaching of students with exceptionalities in schools, institutions or other facilities under the direct guidance of an appropriately certified professional. Prerequisite: Evidence of successful completion of the appropriate State of Illinois test in the content area must be received in the College of Education at least 30 days prior to the beginning of the student teaching semester in order to be allowed to student teach. The Assessment of Professional Teaching (APT) Test must be successfully completed prior to being cleared for entitlement by the institutionís Certification Officer.
