COURSE: 53-481 Secondary Student Teaching (9)
Candidates will complete a 15-week student teaching opportunity. They will be expected to assume full responsibility for the duties of classroom teacher, including development delivery and assessment of instruction, grading and evaluation of students, classroom management, communication with parents and school personnel, and interpretation of data related to student learning. Progress in development is carefully monitored through observation and feedback from the cooperating teacher, university supervisor and content area specialist.  Evidence of successful completion of the appropriate State of Illinois test in the content area must be received in the College of Education at least 30 days prior to the beginning of the student teaching semester in order to be allowed to student teach. Prerequisite: 2.75 GPA; Admission to student teaching; all required content, methods and field experience course work completed; and a negative TB test on file. Offered: Every semester.
