Undergraduate Course Catalog 2007-2008
DEGREE PROGRAMS FOR: FORENSIC CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION
Forensic Criminal Investigation is a specialty vocation in law enforcement. This program provides appropriate curriculum and education to prepare students for the complexities of forensic criminal investigation. The curriculum is based on an interdisciplinary approach, which includes germane courses from Criminal and Social Justice, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science and Accounting. Unlike programs structured to train students to become forensic scientists, this degree program is designed to prepare students to work in the field of law enforcement and function as crime scene investigators that collect and secure evidence at crime scenes. This work is confined to the field and not assigned to the laboratory. The Forensic Criminal Investigation program is offered through the Department of Justice, Law and Public Safety Studies in collaboration with the departments of Chemistry, Mathematics/Computer Science, Physics and the College of Business Accounting program.
