Clinical Assignments and Internship Opportunities

Take advantage of work opportunities through our local partners to get great real-world experience and help pay for school.

Clinical Assignments (Athletic Training, B.A. students)
Your five clinical assignments begin your first year at Lewis. We believe in diving in as early as possible to discover what part of the industry you see yourself working in. That's why your clinical assignments will include at least one placement in a college setting, a high school setting and a physical therapy clinic - to provide you with a diverse range of experiences. These assignments also include rotations in the emergency room, surgery observation and ambulance ride time.

Internship Opportunities
Many of our students take advantage of part-time and summer jobs in the fields of Athletic Training and Sport Management in order to help pay for college. Our students have taken advantage of internship opportunities with our affiliate partners including:

  • Dr. Pietro Totino
Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and Chief of Sports Medicine, Loyola University Health Systems; Medical Director, Lewis University

As Chief of Sports Medicine, I have learned to rely on Athletic Trainers as my first responders - my go-to people when treating an athlete. At Loyola, we truly value our relationship with Lewis University, and it's a relationship we want to foster and see grow in the future. I'm proud of helping our students develop in the classroom, and then see them develop their own strong reputation in the field. I couldn't find a better group of people to see and take care of than the people at Lewis University."
