Mark Swain
Chairman
Department of Art & Design
The Department of Art and Design is dedicated to providing students with majors that will develop their visual communication skills, as well as their knowledge of principles, concepts and methodologies. Students have the opportunity to work closely with faculty and their peers in well-equipped studios to practice classroom assignments and prepare materials for their portfolios.
The program is designed to aid the student in discovering how to see
and create visual expressions. The student is encouraged to inquire
into and develop his or her creative processes.
In order to assist students in effectively analyzing their artwork, objective form is presented as an integral component of content. Art and design lecture courses introduce the student to the language of art so that he or she can more effectively communicate about art and design.
Students may choose from five majors in Computer Graphic Design, Drawing,
General Art Studio,
Illustration and Painting. Art and design lecture
courses introduce students to the language of art so that they can
communicate more effectively. Students pursuing graduate studies or a
career in the field of art acquire the foundation to build upon.
